Founders Brewing Company has been in operation since 1997 and it has no intention of slowing down. This is one of the nations fastest growing breweries and has gone through several expansions throughout the years to keep up with the demand.  Beers like KBS have not only put them on Grand Rapids' map, but the world's map.  KBS has been rated as one of the best beers in the world (but don't get your hopes up, it's extremely limited)!  It's not just KBS that draws in people, tens of thousands of people flock here every year for other well known's such as Centennial IPA, Red's Rye IPA, All Day IPA, Dirty Bastard, Rubaeus and Breakfast Stout to name a few.  This brewery has won several awards for their finely crafted beers.  *Grand Rapids

City Built Brewing Co. calls itself a home away from home, a place for conversations, ideas, new friends, old friends and everything in between.  Housed in a furniture upholstery building from the 1800s, City Built is unique to Grand Rapids with their vast array of beer styles and Puerto Rican food/tacos. Harmony Brewing Company brews small batches of well-balanced beer. Brewing this way allows them to react seasonally and respond to the tastes of the Beer Lovin’ community.  Grapefruit Moon (Grapefruit IPA shandy) and Daydream Believer (coffee stout) are a couple of the standard beers here. 

Their pizzas are something to talk about as well.  Their rustic wood fired pizzas are delicious. Their dough is made from scratch every day, then artfully topped with fresh, creative ingredients and fired in a 700-degree, wood burning oven. The result is pizza perfection.  *Grand Rapids

The Mitten Brewing Company is a vintage baseball-themed microbrewery located in historic Engine House No. 9, a Victorian-era firehouse and Grand Rapids landmark.  Their Country Strong IPA blends American IPA with a Country Strong citrus taste and the Triple Crown Brown, is a mild English Brown with a slight roast and chocolate  flavor, both available year around and both very delicious.

The Fountain Hill Brewery is operated by students enrolled in the Craft Brewing, Packaging and Service Operations certificate.  Their hours are very limited, only open during the school season and once or twice a week.  If you are lucky enough to drink a beer from the first college craft brewery (that actually serves their beers to public) you are in for a treat!  Every visit here allows you to talk to the students who make the beer and tour the brewery!   *Grand Rapids

Speciation Cellars is a production only brewery that focuses mostly on wild, sour, and farmhouse ales, but they also have wines and sometimes an IPA on tap. They are inspired by the small lambic breweries in Belgium as much as the small sour breweries here in the states. 

Their beers are designed to be consumed fresh, but will also evolve with age in the bottle. Our three main brands are Genetic Drift; a lightly dry hopped farmhouse/saison, Incipient; a golden sour ale that we often add fruit and/or dry hops to, and Cultigen; a dark, barrel aged sour.  *Grand Rapids

Trail Point Brewing Co. was born from the brew kettles of Jeff Knoblock and Gary Evans and cultivated in the MOB (Muskegon Ottawa Brewers) homebrew club. The MOB is where they honed their brewing skills, perfected recipes, judged beers, experimented, and built personal relationships.   All of Trail Point's owners belonged to this group.  Melon Farmer (watermelon & cucumber shandy) and CIPApotamus (IPA brewed with exclusively Citra Hops) are certainly noteworthy beers. *Allendale

Thornapple Brewing Co. opened in the Spring 2017 on the south edges of Grand Rapids.  TBC offers the community a local spot to enjoy original beer, cider, wine and spirits created by internationally awarded and longtime local brewers, Jeff Coffey and Eric Fouch. With nearly fifty years of brewing experience between the co-founders, they offer a robust list of original potent potable options that represent their favorite styles and recipes. *Kentwood

Gravel Bottom Brewing Co. was established in 2013 in Ada, MI (just 15 minutes from G.R.).  Their three-barrel system provides beer for six frequently changing taps with different styles regularly featuring homebrew and collaboration beers.  While visiting here be sure to check out their homebrew supply store.  You can create your own masterpiece!  Gravel Bottom even offers home brewing classes.   *Ada

"With a name like Bierling, what other pursuit could be possible other than something that involves grain and yeast?  From a long line of bakers and brewers, we were looking for a way to put our stamp on a family tradition. Distilled spirits was the answer."
Then, the real work began. Formulations and recipes were developed to get the target taste profile from each spirit. Bottles were ordered, labels designed, knuckles were scraped. The dream became reality. They now produce an expanding line of spirits and ales. 
One of the mainstay beers is Devil's Rumble.  An ale featuring Panela, the same ingredient with which they make their Devil's Message Rum. Dark toffee and caramel notes prevail leading to an amazingly unique beer.  *Comstock Park

A little off the beaten path, but worth the trip, Perrin Brewing Co. is one of the largest breweries in the State. Perrin has a Grapefruit IPA that is a sweet and tart Session IPA.  The Kingdom of Tonga Vanilla Porter has vanilla, chocolate and coffee notes with a dry finish.  The Perrin Black, is a black ale that is tasty and surprisingly a light flavored beer.

Vander Mill  Ciders Mill & Winery has awesome rotating craft ciders.  They press their cider using the very best blend of high quality Michigan apples.  Once pressed, the juice is never pasteurized and they never add sugar or preservatives.  Totally Roasted is a hard cider that is flavored with roasted pecans, and has cinnamon and vanilla infused, it is semi-sweet and tart.  They also make a blueberry cider (Blue Gold) and a Ginger Peach cider along with several others on tap.  Some of the beer drinkers may be intrigued by the ciders they have aged in beer barrels.   *Grand Rapids

The Peoples Cider Company opened in June of 2011 with the goal of creating a premium dry cider.  Owner, Jason Lummen pressed the apples at a local farm for his first batch of cider in 2002. After enjoying the success of those initial rounds he expanded his operations.  Jason has developed a dry drinkable cider that is a fresh take on craft beverages in West Michigan.  *Grand Rapids

Hudsonville's Pike 51 is owned by Steve Guikema and Ron Snider who are also co-owners of Hudsonville Winery. Pike 51 Brewery is the new on-site brewpub that is finally here. This has been a dream for many, many years. Steve and Ron talked about this back in the 1990’s while doing their own home-brewing.

When they opened Hudsonville Winery in 2009, they thought the brewery would be added in five years. In 2009, Big Lake Brewing (BLB) was founded by three friends that have a passion for brewing and craft beer.  It took four years of planning and saving before we were able to open our doors in July 2013.  BLB currently operates a 3 barrel (BBL) brewing system with three 7 BBL fermenters.  They normally have 10 to 14 beers, three ciders, and three wines on tap.  A couple of popular mainstay beers include: Rycoe (Rye IPA with Simcoe hops) and Leroy Brown (Northern English Brown Ale)   *Holland

SBC has been producing quality craft beer since 2005. With 15 rotating taps plus hard cider and a variety of wines, they are a brewery worthy of a stop. Recently, Bonfire Brown won a gold medal for American Brown Ale at the 2014 World Beer Cup in Denver, CO. Bonfire Brown also received 'Best In Show' at the 2013 World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth, MI; making SBC one of the few breweries to ever receive the acclamation two years in a row with ESB/Amber winning 'Best In Show' at the 2012 World Expo of Beer.

SBC is also the only Microbrewery in the state of Michigan to feature a Brew On Premise System. Odd Side Ales is one of the fastest growing breweries in Michigan.  Born in an old piano factory in downtown Grand Haven, Odd Side Ales first opened its doors in March 2010. Burzurk Brewing Co. is a small local brewery located in East Side of Grand Haven MI, with a Caribbean / Retro styled taproom. Very chill atmosphere with a reggae vibe. Founded by Larry Bell as a home brewing supply shop in 1983, Bell’s Brewery, Inc. sold its first commercial beer in September 1985.
